Hello and welcome to another FoodieseekerFriday!

This week I am excited to be telling you all about our experience with the Dr Seuss themed activities. Before we went on holiday we introduced the children to the magical world of Dr Seuss as we wanted them to be familiar with who they were going to see. This worked fantastically. The twins were so excited when they saw the Dr Seuss Bookville that is situated at the entrance to Camp Ocean, the children's club. They immediately dug into the variety of books that are available for families to read. While they were in the kids club they did take part in some Dr Seuss themed activities but I was delighted to find that the main activities were ones that the who family could enjoy together. While we were onboard Carnival Vista we indulged on the Dr Seuss breakfast of Green Eggs and Ham and reveled in the madness that was the story time, Seuss-a-Palooza, which I was one of the chosen parents to take part in telling the story of The Cat in the Hat. Today I am going to tell you all about the weird and wonderful dishes that we tucked into during the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast and show you how we retold the story in Seuss-a-Palooza!

On our final full day onboard Vista we woke early and ventured up to the Reflections restaurant. Just the title of the breakfast left us all curious to see what culinary delights would be waiting for us. I had taken a sneaky look at the menu before we left home and so I knew that we would be experiencing a breakfast like no other. This was to be a truly unique feast.

The menu contained a wide variety of wacky dishes that really brought out our inner child. You could start with cereals if you wanted to but we decided to skip the regular and go straight to the dishes that we had gone for! The meals on the menu included:

#FoodieseekerFriday - Seuss at Sea and Fun for the Kids

For this weeks Foodieseeker Friday post I thought I would tell you all about the children's activities. As I am sat writing this I have two excited twins telling me to click here and there! To prepare the children for the Dr Seuss adventure on board Carnival Vista they already have Dr Seuss teddies and books so they are already familiar characters. In true Carnival style there are so many Dr Seuss themed activities, including the legendary Green Eggs and Ham!

The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the cat in the hat and friends is going to be a breakfast like no other. The dining area will be brightly decorated and filled with all of the fun of Dr Seuss.

The menu makes this a truly unique breakfast. The menu is full of classic Dr Seuss style poems to describe the culinary delights that await, such as...

• Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham? "Would you, could you, on a boat? Try them while you float. Try them and you may, I say."
• Scrambled Super-Dee Dooper-dee-Booper, Special de luxe a-la Peter T Hooper Omelette's "We'll crack'em and shuck'em and chuck'em in pans. We'll mix in some beans and use fifty five cans. We'll mix in whatever you wish; feel free to create your own stupendous egg dish."
• Truffula Tree Pancakes "Those pancakes! Those pancakes! Stacked high as the trees. I've been searching my whole life for stacks such as these!"
• From There to Here, From Here to There, Funny Belgian Waffles are Everywhere "One berry, two berry, red berry, blue berry. Waffles with whipped cream, waffles without. Just tell us which one; no need to shout."
• Fox in Socks Steak and Eggs "Don't blab such blibber blubber! Try to say filet mignon topped with two fried eggs, Bearnaise sauce, chopped potatoes and grilled tomatoes. Now is your tongue numb?" 

Travelling With Children Over Christmas

As the Christmas holidays arrive I am sure many of you will be thinking about travelling with children. Whether it is to travel to visit families or whether you are going on holiday travelling with children can be hard at the best of times but with the added excitement of Christmas it is even more important that they have plenty to keep them occupied.

Here are my top tips for keeping them busy on long journeys.

Pack a Festive Packed Lunch

How many times do you hear from the kids "I'm hungry!" when on a journey, I know ours say it a lot. So the best way to keep their tummies happy is with a festive packed lunch. If you look in the supermarket there are some fantastic, disposable plates, napkins and straws which will make the pack up even more fun. Even add a cracker for a bit more excitement.

Christmas Activities

Now that the twins are at nursery they have become more eager to do arts and crafts. You will have noticed that I do not write craft posts, I am not in the slightest bit artistic. But I have got next week with the three children at home. I need to find plenty of activities to keep them all busy while the excitement builds as Christmas gets closer and there are so many times you can bake!

I know that I am not going to be the only mum out there that is like this so I thought that I would share with you my top ideas for keeping the kids busy before Christmas arrives.

Baking and Food Fun

Baking is a must at any time of year, but at Christmas even more so! There are so many foodie treats that can be made. Go for easy bakes which the children can do, this will keep them busy making the bakes but they will be so proud to see the finish product! Now that they children have just over 3 weeks left at school before they break up for the Christmas holidays I thought that I would start to plan some activities to keep them busy during the week running up to Christmas. For us all I think that the week will drag as we eagerly await the excitement of Christmas day. So to help them pass the time I am planning to create a Christmas activity box to help keep them occupied and having fun.

So when Lakeland got in touch asking me if I would like to write about their Make-Your-Own range that they have released especially for Christmas I knew that it would be perfect for the activity box. I love Lakeland, it is one of my favourite homeware shops. I cannot walk past their shop without going in to explore everything that they have got. Yes, this also means that I cannot go in without spending! I have always found that the products that I have bought from Lakeland have been of the highest quality and have lasted really well.

As you can imagine I was so excited when I saw what they had sent to us. This is what we received...

Children's Activity Booklet - Perfect For Half Term!

It does not feel like the children have been back at school for two minutes yet we have a half term coming up! Yes, the children have just next week to go and then it is a week off!

I always find the autumn half term a difficult one. The weather is not always great so you cannot guarantee that you will be able to go out or let the child play out in the garden. So it is essential that you have some back up plans and are prepared for days inside.

I have already got some baking activities planned after the twins pointed out a few recipes that they would like to make. But other than that, so far, I have been stuck. Since they started nursery they have wanted more structured activities to do, so when I was asked if I would like to look at some activity booklets that are available online to keep the kids busy I jumped at the chance!
