Pressure King Pro - Review

I love getting kitchen gadgets. The unboxing, using it for the first time and getting creative with meals is one of my favourite things to do. So when I was asked if I would like to review the Pressure King Pro I jumped at the chance! Only a couple of days earlier I was telling the hubby that I needed a new slow cooker as my other one had broken so after having a look at the Pressure King Pro online I was definitely excited for it to arrive. I have never used a pressure cooker, but I do have memories of my mum using one when I was a child. Of course they have all updated since then and are even digital! Before the Pressure King Pro arrived I really was not sure what to expect but I could not wait to find out more.

Thanks to the speedy delivery from ao.com it arrived in no time. The first thing that I was surprised at was the size of the Pressure King Pro, it was bigger than I was expecting which is fantastic when you are preparing meals for a family of five. The Pressure King Pro comes with everything that you need to prepare delicious meals in even less time!

Before you can use the Pressure King Pro for the first time you need to give it a steam clean. This is to ensure that all parts are thoroughly clean before you add any food.

To really jump in at the deep end I decided that my first meal using the Pressure King Pro would be a joint of beef in a ragu sauce.

This is what I did...
Beef in Ragu Sauce

Ingredients

1 x Silverside of beef
6 radish, finely chopped (you can use onions but as the hubby is following the FODMAP plan I have used radish instead)
2 carrots, chopped
1 red pepper
1 lg courgette, halved, quartered and sliced
Handful of kale
1 x 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
Salt
Pepper
1 tsp oregano
1 red wine stock pot
175mls red wine
1 beef stock cube
Pasta to serve

Method

1 - Turn on the Pressure King Pro and select the stew function, this will allow you to brown off the meat without needing to put the lid on

2 - Spray a fine covering of spray oil on the base of the Pressure King Pro's inner pot

3 - Place the radish, or onion if you are using, into the inner pot along with the red pepper and stir fry for a minute

4 - Clear a space in the centre and quickly brown off the joint and cancel the stew function

5 - Place the carrots, courgettes, chopped tomatoes, oregano, red wine stock pot, red wine and beef stock to the pot place the Pressure King Pro's lid on and turn the pressure valve to closed and select the meat function. Increase the cooking time to 60 minutes and leave the Pressure King Pro to do all of the work for you!

6 - Once the 60 minutes are up the Pressure King Pro will beep four times and then go onto the keep warm mode. This will ensure that your meal stays fresh and hot!

7 - Release the steam by turning the valve to open. BEWARE the steam is extremely hot so do not do this without wearing an oven glove!

8 - Once all of the pressure has been released remove the lid, stir in the kale and replace the lid and keep warm for five minutes to allow the kale to soften before serving

The meat came out lovely and tender as it would have if it had been cooked in a slow cooker and was left deliciously moist.

There are so many different meals that you can cook in the Pressure King Pro, cooking a joint in sauce is just the beginning. I have so many meal ideas, this is simply the first recipe of what will become a whole series of PKP recipes!

The Pressure King Pro has so many features. The cooking functions that it has are...
  • Stew
  • Rice
  • Fish
  • Meat
  • Pasta
  • Soup
  • Steam
  • Canning for preserves
  • Delayed timer so you can set it to cook while you are out so that you can come home to a delicious meal!
  • Keep warm so your meals will be ready when you are
  • Slow cook
  • Fast reheat which is perfect for heating up leftovers, this function is for cooked foods and reheats in just 1 minute!
  • Steamer tray allows you to keep food out of the water to get a perfectly steamed meal
So far I have cooked the beef joint in ragu sauce, a layered vegetables, fish and potatoes meal, chilli con carne and a beef stew. So I have more recipes to share!

If you are looking for a multi functional cooking gadget then the Pressure King Pro is all that you need. With the Pressure King Pro there is no need to have a pressure cooker, a separate steamer and a separate slow cooker. The Pressure King Pro does it all in one. All of the components in the Pressure King Pro are dishwasher safe so even the cleaning is easy! It comes with a huge 5 litre capacity so you know that there will be enough room to cook a meal for the whole family and more!

The Pressure King Pro retails at £69 which I think is a fantastic price. This is one piece of kitchen equipment that I know will get used a lot. I am not the only one who loves the Pressure King Pro, when I posted on social media that the Pressure King Pro had arrived I heard from friends who also have the same model. Here are just a couple of comments about the Pressure King Pro, my comments are in blue...

  4. I will definitely have to look at one of these. I love using my slow cooker but end up forgetting to prepare all of the ingredients until it is too late to cook it all in time. I am also rubbish at cooking rice so that function would be a dream come true.

    1. Hi Carole, thank you for your comment. I think I know where you are going wrong. When you set the timer do you enter the time that you want the PKP to come on or do you select the number of hours you want to delay the start from? When I use it say I set it at 8am and want it to start cooking at 1pm I put in 5 hours so it wil start in 5 hours. I hope that makes sense and that you can get it to work for you. If you have any more questions please do ask and I will try to help x

    1. Hi Claire, yes definitely that is one of the things I love about the PKP, it can be set as a delay timer. I put my ingredients in before I go to work, set the timer so that it is ready when I get home from work!
