The combinations can be any depending on taste. Chocolate/orange and chocolate/vanilla are my favourite!
This week I have made a chocolate caramel marble cake.
I have used Cadbury Caramel bars that run through the bottom of the cake along with a vanilla sponge marbled with a chocolate sponge.
It is such an easy cake which looks harder than it actually is and always goes down well when it is served.
This is what I did...
Chocolate Caramel Marble Cake
Ingredients
150g baking spread/butter
150g caster sugar
150g self raising flour
3 eggs
1/4tsp vanilla paste
2tbsp cocoa powder
2 Cadbury Caramel bars, frozen over night
Method
Pre heat the oven to 180C
1 - Mix together the baking spread and the sugar until light and creamy
2 - Gradually add the eggs along with a little flour to prevent curdling
3 - Sift in the flour and mix until all of the ingredients are evenly combined together
4 - Weigh the cake mixture and divide between two separate bowls
5 - In one of the bowls mix in the vanilla paste, in the other mix in the cocoa powder
6 - Line a loaf tin with baking paper and add the vanilla cake mixture
7 - Place the chocolate cake mixture over the top
8 - Take a fork and go through the cake mixture in a figure 8, this will give the cake the marble effect
9 - Take the frozen Caramel bars, line them up width ways down the centre of the cake
10 - Push the pieces of Caramel into the mixture so that they are covered
11 - Place in the pre heated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until thoroughly baked
12 - Once baked remove from the tin and leave to cool on a cooling rack
This is a delicious cake that has a layer of caramel along the bottom of the cake. If you do not like caramel then this can be left out or replaced with different chocolate of choice.
Enjoy x
