In our house we all love a good stew. They are always so full of flavour and a real comforting meal. When we were shopping recently in Marks and Spencer's Food Hall we spotted some delicious sounding venison sausages. Venison is a meat that we love so when we spotted these sausages we could not resist.
I knew that they would taste amazing in a stew and wold help them to go even further.
This is what I did...
Venison Sausage Stew
Ingredients
6 venison sausages, cut into 4
1 onion, chopped
1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
3 carrots, chopped
2 parsnips, chopped
1 small head of cauliflower, cut into florets
1 turnip, chopped
400g potatoes, cubed
3 cabbage leaves, chopped
1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes
1 vegetable stock cube
1 tbsp oil
Method
1 - Heat the oil in a large saute pan, add the onions and cook gently for 5 minutes
2 - Add the venison sausages to the pan and brown off
3 - Add the carrots, parsnips, turnips, potatoes and the chopped tomatoes to the pan
4 - Fill the tin with water and add to the pan along with the stock cube and bring to the boil
5 - Reduce the heat to a minimum, cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes
6 - After 20 minutes add the broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage, cover the pan and leave for a further 10 minutes
7 - Serve with some freshly made bread!
Everybody loved the stew, even the children who had not previously had venison! Plus with a good stew there is even less washing up thanks to it all being cooked in the one pot.
Enjoy x
