Dream Kitchen

You may remember a while ago I wrote about my hopes and dreams for a new kitchen area. Well things are moving in the right direction. If you did not read the post let me set the scene!

When we bought our home two and a half years ago we had huge hopes for it. The kitchen needed completely redoing, the bathroom moved from downstairs to upstairs to create a utility next to the kitchen, we took out the old fire place and had new carpets and floors downstairs. It was a lot of work in a short space of time. We saw the house as a blank canvas that over time we could make into our ideal, perfect family home.

Two years on things are now really starting to develop and we can see that our dreams are going to become a reality.

So what are our dreams?

What is our dream kitchen are going to be like?

This is what my kitchen looked like when we moved in...

We have made the kitchen ours and it looks dramatically different now...

It is lovely, but it is simply not big enough.

When there are five of us in there with the puppies bounding about it is a squash. We have been left us with two options. We either move house or extend. We have thought about moving but there are not many big houses with the size of the back garden that we have that we can afford. We really would need to start getting some online lottery tickets and win for that to happen! So we are extending the back of our house!

We are lucky to have a large garden so building into is will not mean that we loose a lot of space. Extending our kitchen is the way we are going to go.

I have always dreamed of having a large, open plan, living dining area. That is what we are planning to create. An area where I can cook, while the children play in the living area while we look out to the hubby working in the garden.

Now these dreams are in the process of becoming a reality. The relevant paper work has been submitted to the council and we have an architect doing our drawings. The next step is finding a builder and then it will be all go!

The dream of our ideal, perfect family home is coming true!
