On Saturday the twins had their first night away from us.
All week we have been quite apprehensive about how it would go. As I have mentioned before Taylor is very much a mummy's boy. This week, in preparation for Saturday, I have let hubby take over getting the children to bed so that he is used to someone else other than mummy.
We nervously took the children to my mum and dads. They had their tea and we snuck out.
We had a little bit of freedom!
It was lovely being "us" again. Being able to give each other 100% of our attention. This is something that we have not had in over 25 months. We enjoyed a delicious meal and a lovely bottle of wine.

Then we got the message that we had been waiting for. The twins were both asleep! We could relax!
We were hoping for a full nights sleep and a lie in. However we were both awake for 7am. After having early mornings for so long our body clocks are in that routine.
On Sunday morning we went and collected the children early as Joseph had volunteered to take part in the church family service that the school takes part in. They were doing a mothering Sunday reading, which was lovely to see. I even came home with some beautiful daffodils.
After church we went home and hubby pottered about in the garden between the rain showers and I baked bread and spent time with the children.
This was a lovely weekend. We had the best of both worlds. Family time and time out!
.
It sounds like the perfect weekend! It's strange how we get up early even when we don't have to!
ReplyDeleteAwwh Weekends are the best I wish they could last forever.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great weekend! I'm very jealous of your night off!
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely! We have our first night to ourselves in two and a half years in April , am really looking forward to it, if slightly anxious that my Mum may be in for trouble!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the twins went to sleep quickly and all went smoothly! Sounds like a lovely weekend.

ReplyDeleteIt must have been great, we've only had little Mr away for few hours at a time. I definitely need to arrange some proper adults-only time for me and Hubs!

ReplyDeleteSounds lovely! My youngest is 17m and still breastfeeds regularly through the night so we are still waiting for a much needed night to ourselves!

ReplyDeleteAaah sounds amazing! I did wonder how your evening away went. Sounds as though it was worth it - and the time spent with the little ones afterwards was all the sweeter for it.
ReplyDeleteAh it's hard the first time. Actually it's hard every time, but it gets easier. Isn't it weird when you go out without them? You fidget and feel really odd until you get used to it, and then you totally forget you ever had kids! Briefly...
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you had a nice time during your child free time, I'm always the same when the children aren't here, always up at the crack of dawn!
ReplyDeletelove that shot of the daffodils! so pretty! x
